Why it is popular in Mexico
The major advantage is construction speed. Instead of installing conventional plywood/wood formwork and subsequently removing it, the Losacero sheets remain in the structure. This can reduce labor, temporary shoring and construction time. Ternium specifically describes it as replacing conventional formwork and, in some applications, eliminating temporary shoring.
Important: the allowable span is not simply determined by the 2.5" profile. It depends on gauge, concrete thickness, number of spans, construction loads, support spacing, reinforcement and whether shoring is used.
Losacero 25 is a galvanized steel decking system used as permanent formwork and, together with concrete and reinforcement, as part of a composite floor or roof system.
Its typical applications are:
- Composite floor slabs in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings
- Multi-story buildings, including offices, apartments, hotels, and schools
- Parking structures and mezzanine floors
- Industrial facilities and warehouses
- Roofs and elevated platforms, where the deck is used as permanent formwork
